Recovering From Sexual Addiction, Living In Purity

Our struggle with lust often began as a way to escape inner pain, emptiness, or insecurity—things we didn’t know how to cope with. At first, it seemed to work. Whether through sex with ourselves or others, it temporarily eased the tension, lifted the depression, and helped us escape from what felt like unbearable situations.

But over time, what started as relief turned into addiction, and the addiction took control. The pleasure and escape we sought were replaced by tension, depression, anger, guilt, and even physical discomfort. To deal with this new pain, we turned to more sex and lust, losing even more control in the process. Our thoughts became consumed with the addiction, and we denied just how much it had taken over our lives.

Eventually, the addiction took priority over everything—our work, our relationships, and even our closeness to God. What began as a solution had turned into the very problem itself.

We found ourselves hopelessly addicted to lust.
